Made from natural bismuth, these unique seahorses are mostly flat backed with a rough, uneven top. Each piece will vary slightly in color, size, weight, and due to the way bismuth forms, may feature small imperfections.
Bismuth is a high density metal that naturally has a low melting point (530.3°F / 271.3°C), and when heated and cooled, creates new crystalline structures and oxidizes into the rainbow hues shown.
Please note that while bismuth can be used in jewelry, the beautiful rainbow patina may fade over time due to the oils and chemicals found in skin. It is recommended that if used in jewelry, seal the metal or prevent it from touching skin to preserve the beautiful coloration. Bismuth is non-toxic.
